WORKSHOP: Mason Bees Fall Care 101

~ Saturday, November 1st from 10:30am - 11:30am

Discover the fascinating world of mason bees with instructor Michelle Berg from Fat Dog Farms in this welcoming, hands-on workshop. Designed for beginners and seasoned bee enthusiasts alike, this class focuses on preparing your mason bee nests for a successful spring season.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own nests, or purchase one here! Michelle will provide step-by-step guidance on how to clean, prep, and maintain them effectively, ensuring your bees have a safe and healthy environment to thrive in. You’ll get the foundation set during class, and since complete cleaning can take a few hours, you’ll leave with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to finish the process at home.

During our time together, Michelle will also share essential knowledge, including:

  • The full lifecycle of mason bees, from emergence to nesting

  • Practical care and maintenance strategies to keep your population strong

  • Seasonal insights—what you can expect throughout the year as your bees grow and thrive

  • Beginner-friendly advice for those just getting started with keeping mason bees

This laid-back, supportive workshop is a great opportunity to connect with others interested in pollinator health and to learn how small steps in your backyard can make a big difference for the environment. Come with questions, curiosity, and your nests—we’ll provide the guidance to get you started!

Come back in the spring to get some Blue Orchard Mason Bees are gentle, sting-free, and easy to care for. As one of the first bees to emerge in spring, they’re perfectly timed to pollinate early-blooming fruit, berries, and nut trees. These hardworking little bees buzz from flower to flower, collecting and distributing pollen – and they don’t swarm or produce honey, making them ideal for the home garden.
